Setting the mood for retail
Lighting can be one of the most overlooked parts of store design. Clear, even light through the aisles and accent light on displays both have a job to do, but the overall ambience matters too. Light influences how comfortable a space feels, often in subtle ways we may not consciously notice. It therefore warrants careful consideration from the start of a retail fit-out.
Panel lighting provides a practical foundation for general illumination. With a choice of sizes, outputs and formats, it can be planned around the store layout, ceiling construction and the light levels needed in different areas.
Radiant Lighting’s Round Panel Lights are available in five sizes, from 117 mm to 295 mm in diameter. The larger backlit range offers square and rectangular formats for modular ceilings and broader commercial spaces. Where one fitting type will not suit every area, the two ranges can be used together as part of a considered lighting layout.
The round panels deliver 100 lm/W (lumens per watt), from the 6W model at 600 lm to the largest 24W option at 2,400 lm. That consistent relationship between wattage and light output makes it simpler to compare fittings and estimate power consumption.
Their wide 100° beam angle provides broad general illumination. With appropriate spacing, they can help create even light coverage across a larger area.
For modular ceiling layouts, the RPR360, RPR361 and RPR362 backlit panels offer square and rectangular formats, with outputs of 4,000 lm or 6,000 lm. The choice of formats gives planners more freedom to work with the proportions of the space, the ceiling grid and the required lighting layout.
Practical for new installations and upgrades
In a new fit-out, a selection of formats and outputs makes it easier to plan lighting around the store. Round panels can be distributed through smaller areas and passages, while the higher-output backlit panels can serve larger sections of the shop floor, subject to the lighting plan.
Radiant’s Round Panel Lights are also useful in retrofit work, where existing ceiling cut-outs often influence the replacement fitting. Five cut-out sizes, from 90–95 mm to 255–265 mm, provide scope to find a compatible option while limiting additional ceiling work.
At only 26 mm deep, the round panels suit installations where ceiling space is restricted. Their polypropylene and polycarbonate construction also makes them lightweight to transport, handle and position on site.
The backlit panels’ standard formats are useful for common modular ceiling layouts. The existing opening, support arrangement and electrical requirements will influence the final selection, but three formats provide welcome flexibility.
Colour choice where it counts
The Radiant RD331DL to RD335DL round panels provide 6500K daylight illumination for functional areas where bright, clear light is preferred.
The RPR backlit panels offer 3CCT selection. An inline switch allows the electrician to set the colour temperature to 4000K, 5000K or 6500K during installation. This gives the retailer a choice of light colour to suit the intended look and use of the space, while allowing one panel model to cover three colour-temperature requirements.
Confidence beyond the light output
The round panels offer a rated life of 25,000 hours, a CRI of 80, 1 kV surge protection and EMC compliance. They are IP20 rated for suitable indoor applications, operate at 230V 50Hz and carry a two-year warranty. The range is non-dimmable.
The RPR360, RPR361 and RPR362 backlit panels carry an IP40 rating and a five-year warranty, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Good retail lighting begins with a plan for the whole space. With a choice of panel sizes, outputs and colour temperatures, Radiant offers practical options for building the general lighting layer that supports the store layout and the experience within it.
